Raksha Bandhan Celebration @ Swarna Jyothi
Introducing Raksha Bandhan Festival
to our kids, and educating them about the importance and values of the
relationship.
Raksha Bandhan is the festival of
brother-sister bond. Raksha Bandhan has been celebrated in India and many other
parts of Asia since centuries and it is still celebrated with
much excitement and gusto.
Raksha Bandhan is celebrated on the full-moon day in the month of
Sravana (July-August). In North India, the occasion is popularly called Raksha
Bandhan or Rakhi, the tying of an amulet. On this day, sisters tie an amulet,
the Rakhi, around the right wrist of their brothers praying for their long life
and happiness. Raksha means protection, where women felt unsafe, they tied
Rakhi round the wrists of men they could count upon, regarding them as
brothers.
Where
brother gives the pledge to protect her.
Rakhi
is an unbreakable knot of never dying relationship
between a brother and sister.
